Merry Xmas and a happy, sailing-filled 2007 from all of us at CDSC.

Timothy Hone has been awarded the Maritime Medal for his contribution to sailing in the Central West,
specifically with Sailability, on Wednesday 20 December 2006, in Orange. This is a very prestigious award and we are proud to support Timothy and Sailability at Carcoar Dam. Well deserved Tim! (Story and photo) updated

To celebrate the end of the season, there's a suggested New Year get together and barbecue at the club house on the 14th of January. If we get excited, we could even have a meeting. As always, BYO everything.

As the water level continues to drop and new obstructions raise every day, it is now no longer safe for us to hold organised sailing at Carcoar Dam. However, the fun need not stop. We encourage all our members to continue to enjoy sailing by supporting the local regattas.

The next one is the Fish River SC Regatta to be held at Oberon on 20 & 21 of  January. This is normally a very well supported regatta with boats from the Central West and beyond. We will be distributing more details as we have them, or you can contact the Fish River Sailing Club directly on 6336 1562 (email  ). Directions and accomodation details .

For those who missed the last few weeks, we have ordered a few sun shirts and polo shirts with CDSC logo on it, which will cost around $25 each. The sun shirts are high visibility, with SPF50, to ensure safety on the water. The polo shirts are casual wear. If you haven’t yet ordered yours and are interested, let us know. I only have a few spares on each size, so first in best dressed. Literally!

from Sailability's last day of 2007.

A message from an old member - Barry Robertson (Commodore 1990-92).

Some new Photos from and - lots of boats - and the dam was full!

Report, Results & Photos: Success at Wallerawang Regatta for CDSC!

NOTE: Our Xmas Party and 31st Birthday Celebration will be held from 5.30pm on Saturday 2nd December 2006 at Greg Unwin's home, BYO everything. 3 Karri Place, Orange. (6362 6426)

Commodore Marcia Lac's television interview at W'ang Regatta was aired on WIN TV's News on Wednesday night. Promoting sailing and CDSC. Lookin' good, Marcia!

Jim Nutley, from Parkes, sends his best wishes to one and all. He's been rather unwell so far this season, unfortunately. Come back when you can, Jim - we're missing you greatly!

Marcia Lac has re-named her Laser "Magic". Hope it does the trick for you, Marcia!

  • Here's the details about the Wallerawang Regatta this weekend (18-19 November 2006):
The Regatta entry is $20 per boat.
The racing starts 11.00 Saturday, with a lunch break followed by an afternoon race around 2pm.
Sunday first race 10am, and the afternoon race as soon as possible, generally 1pm. All this relies on the weather though.

Camp right next to your boat by the lake if you wish. The park has toilet facilities (and showers) Camping is no problem. There are usually quite a few people around the boats. We normally go up to the Bowling Club for a feed on Saturday night.
If you are not into camping, accommodation is available in Lithgow or close by at '"Black Gold Country Cabins"

To get to W'ang & Lake Wallace, drive thru Bathurst and head towards Lithgow. Turn left at the Wallerawang turn off besides Lake Wallace (before the W'ang Power Station). Go past school (and lights), and turn at the entrance to the park, on the right. Take the track to the left/straight ahead, past the toilets, and follow this around to the Sailing Club boatshed, which is on the foreshore of Lake Wallace. There's a map on W'ang Sailing Club's website: www.geocities.com/andy_holden_wang/Files/wang06.htm

We have regrettably decided to cancel our Annual Regatta for this season, due to the low water levels. :(

The (Oberon) will have their regatta on the 20 & 21 of January 2007, with a function on Saturday night at the clubhouse. This is usually a great weekend with lots of fun and healthy competition.
